Half Way Through August

🏃 26in2026

Ups and downs, but mostly ups... cold and warm weather, but mostly cold!

Wow, what a month to kick of documenting each run every day (on the YouTube channel at least). There's been snow, there's been hail, there's been sunshine, wind and rain too.

I want you to really talk about the ups and downs that come with running and to be honest after all these years of running, racing and competing. Yes there is a factor of the trifecta of fitness, talent and physiology but a lot of it comes down to mental clarity.

What I mean by this is that with a positive latitude with an outcome based mental approach of each run I have found that the success rate of completing enjoying or simply moving onto the next day has been much higher than when my brain was cloudy, my mental capacity was low or I had a negative thought about the run on that day.

Being mentally strong and also being both mentally and physically consistent with repetition, seems to be the key (for me at least!) to keep on going in such a challenge. It even helps when the goal is simply just getting the miles or getting faster or just getting through the day...

...and I don’t want to come across a some self help guru. I just feel as though my journeys and physical activity have always benefited from happiness and positivity and that mental switch. Where I'm able to either switch off from the day and switch into the running, or switch into a mode where I'm thinking about that future state and how good it’s gonna be when I've finished.

So this month has been tricky with all that weather - and to be fair I didn’t think I was going to push myself to run every day so far... and actually I’m still one ahead for the month to date.

I do feel as though documenting this has pushed me a little bit further as well. Building things in public is tougher on you to quit, or to stop and so putting myself out there has actually changed my mindset and allow me to push through when some days I would’ve said "NO WAY" and probably not done a run.

So thank you to everyone who is following this and for those who you reached out it really means a lot and it’s giving me a real positive mental attitude for the whole of this crazy 2026 challenge.

So onwards for the rest of the month, smashing each run out - one by one. Let’s go!
